Wireless Mouse with USB adapter
As the name indicates, a mouse without cable is called as a wireless mouse. Wireless mouse with USB adapter receiver operates through Radio frequency, i.e., Mouse has an inbuilt transmitter which sends the signals to the receiver (USB adapter) plugged in any of the USB ports in a PC or laptop. Then the USB receiver decodes the received signals and inputs to the Operating System (OS) through mouse driver software.
Wired USB Mouse
Today, the Wired USB type optical mouse is used by most of the people. A wired USB mouse can operate through laser or optical (LED) light or even through ball. This type of mouse dominated its predecessor wired PS/2 connector mouse.
LASER Mouse

LASER mouse can operate even on glossy surfaces, unlike an optical mouse. If you want to use the mouse on different types of surfaces frequently, LASER mouse is the best suit for you. But LASER mouse is more sensitive with high DPI (Dots per Inch). LASER mice use LASER light as an illumination source. A CMOS sensor inside the mouse detects the movement of the mouse and sends the signal to CPU.
4. Optical Mouse
An optical mouse is suitable to work on mouse pad or non-glossy surfaces. This type of mouse is widely used now. The main difference to LASER mouse is the illumination source (LED light). The optical mouse also has a CMOS sensor to detect the mouse movements.
5. Bluetooth Mouse
Bluetooth mouth is also a wireless mouse without USB adapter receiver. Bluetooth mouse directly connects to the blue-tooth enabled laptop or PC. Hence, no need to plug the receiver into the computer ports.

Travelers Mouse
- A Travelers mouse can be wired or wireless. Traveler’s mouse is a portable mouse comparatively smaller in size. Even foldable mice are available now.
Trackball Mouse Trackball mouse has a ball on the top of stationery mouse. You don't need to move the mouse, But use only your thumb or index finger to move the ball on the top of mouse.
Cordless 3-D Mouse
Cordless 3D mouse can be used like a TV remote of your computer. It points to the screen and the cursor can be moved by moving the mouse.
Gamer’s Mouse Gamer's mouse has high accuracy, long life in terms of the number of clicks and many programmable buttons.
Mouse with Ergonomics Ergonomics is a term related to prevention of health injuries caused by using mouse frequently. Ergonomics mouses are designed to minimize the side effects caused by the continuous usage of mouse. Different mouse brands and models have different ergonomics features.
Ball Mouse or Mechanical Mouse Bill English invented the ball mouse in 1972. A small rolling ball placed in the bottom of the mouse is used to move the cursor in the screen. This old type Ball mouse becomes dirty easily and it should be cleaned frequently.
PS/2 Mouse (Mostly not used now) Old PCs had only PS/2 connector ports. This type of mouse has PS/2 connector instead of USB connector.
